About Us monorail

Over 7,000 members, in 97 countries, on 6 continents!

The Monorail Society is an all-volunteer organization founded to foster more awareness and promote this unique method of transportation. Monorails are NOT just for theme parks and zoos! Our aim is to inform people of the many possible uses for them. Monorail systems around the world carry hundreds of thousands of passengers safely and efficiently to their destinations every day. If more monorails were built, people would choose transit over the automobile in greater numbers.

Efforts of The Monorail Society (TMS) members have helped monorail gain more acceptance as an alternative to conventional rail, buses and cars. Several monorail projects have benefited from the efforts of TMS and its members. Below is a list of monorails built since TMS was founded. Before TMS, there were no all-encompassing information sources on monorail, either in print or online. For this, we are very proud of our contribution to the transit world.

Founded in 1989, The Monorail Society first published a quarterly pictorial, Monorail Newsletter. In 1998, the newsletter was discontinued and replaced with a far stronger communication tool...The Monorail Society Website. Explore our website and learn more about monorails than anywhere else on the Internet. We currently have over 580 pages of content for you, all for free and with limited ads.

If you like what you see, please join us and help bring about more monorail transit systems. Becoming a member is easy and FREE, no strings attached. Join The Monorail Society by filling out a simple short form. We'd love to have you aboard, there is power in numbers!
